Good stuff. Majority of doctors will never fix your issue. They can find the cause and this is still questionable at times. Physical therapy definitely helps. For my part, i have l5s1 buldge. I do a lot of traction on the kitchen counter top. Waiting for my kids tk sleep better and i can get back to workout and strengthen my core properly

I'm from India I started having sciatic pain nov 2019. Till feb I tried various exercises but it kept on getting worse. Then my mother forced me to go to a nearby ayurvedic hospital. There the doctor prescribed me 3 therapies that come under Panchakarma 1. Kati basti 2. Abhayanga massage 3. Vapour bath. On the sixth day of therapy I realised that my back doesn't hurt when I sit for long hours. I took the treatment for seven days in total. Hope this helps.

After discovering a herniated disc and 6 month of total depression, I tried several methods and none helped. Somehow I decided to go to a manual therapist. I took a session where he discovered some spinal deviations. Since that session, the pain is magicly gone. I undestand how much pain you guys are in and how much depression a gerniated disc causes. Please see a manual therapist. He might be the solution! Take care guys! I wish every one of you guys here with a herniated disc.

It depends.. For some it can be helpful. for some it can make it worse.. I would proceed with extra caution and maybe try lower levels of traction first and see how your back responds.

Hey, nice video. I have a question, hope you read this and you can help. I recently started this exercise and it seems very cool. I found some mistakes I did thanks to your video, but I don't know if those are connected to a problem that I felt just today: when I put myself on my four I feel a pulling and a little painful sensation at the base of my ring finger, just on my left hand. Same thing if I try a pushup position: if I put some weight there, it hurts. Usually I try to do some wrist stretch before doing it, but maybe they weren't enough... I don't feel any pain when it's relaxed, so I don't think it's a big thing. Anyway, since I'm not mothertongue, hope I didn't miss something that was obvious in the video. Maybe the solution was there and I didn't notice ? In that case, sorry.

I got the L5 S1 disc injury thanks to a hurricane. My doctors really could only offer suggestions that didn't work, including a pain management specialist. I had to pay for my own MRI because my insurance company just would not. Proper diagnosis was key for me. Gabapenzin helped me but it still hurt alot. The only thing that really helped bring my pain from a Level 10 to a Level 1 or 2 was going on a hard core carnivore diet. I only ate eggs and real meat. My only cheats were 1 cup of coffee in the morning with 1 tablespoon of half n half and sometimes a cup of tea (a tea bag and water only) at night. I CUT out all sugar including fruit, bread, pasta and veggies and NO fake sugars like sweet n low pkts. It drastically cut my pain but none of my doctors or surgeons knew this. I had to find out myself watching UTube and kept hearing sugar is inflammatory. Cut that inflammation by cutting all sugars and fake sugars as much as you can. I saw improvement in just a week and alot of improvement by week 2. It has not been a cure for me but dropping the pain has saved my life and made me quite a bit more functional.

So this video is only helpful when you have quantified "adequate hydration" otherwise its meaningless. Anyone can say that but what does that mean?? Drink "lots" of water....ok.....2 ltrs every hour, every two hours, every twelve hours, every 24 hours?? What is too much? What is adequate? What is not enough? Everyone knows we need to be hydrated so explaining quantities is really the useful bit you have missed out.

It’s very depressing for me as i consider myself in my prime years and it’s too soon for these kind of problems to happen . I just read your video. I have beengoing through a pain and ache on my left side for a year. I kept putting it off, hoping it would heal on its own. I went to a chiropractor who told me it was my si joint, no big deal. He said no bulging disks which I was concerned about. Still I was hurting. I went to a spine specialist. He ordered an mri. He talked to me about everything. I have l4 l5 disc bulge. He explained it as instead of a 10ft ceiling, its 8ft. I was scared. Ive been doing lower back stretches and exercising. He gave me an epidural shot. It hurt, given in 2 spots. I felt like it was burning alot and after about a week and a half things calmed down.if it still burning he said he can do an ablation. Im not sure, i am careful with continuous bending. I feel like ive never been through pain like that, i wss scared and depressed. I feel like im on the mend. I guess you just have to adapt sometimes. Everyone has something there dealing with. Wishing yoj well. I hope your pain has healed.

Hi Remi, Thanks for this video. Instead of the inversion table, which for some may not be feasible, what about full hanging from a chin-up bar for a couple of minutes throughout the day. I have done this and it does give me some relief. Any thoughts as to whether the inversion table would be superior to hanging?

    • @RemiSovran

Not a problem stras! Yes, that could be a good alternative as well as you have the upper body strength to do so. Wouldn't say it's superior.. as it depends on the person.. but in most cases I'd prefer the inversion table.

      - Hemend Sitting, normal, yes. I can do so without pain. It's hard too say specifically with your case. But my facet joints, I never particularly had an issue with mobility. However, I found traction (e.g., inversion table) always helpful if things got really stiff. I completely agree with you. Ice never did it for me. There has to be some scientific basis for all these experts to be recommending icing the affected area. From personal experience, I can say that McKenzie stretches work for me. Half-cobras and cat-cow stretches specifically. Ultimately, it takes time, patience, avoiding any pain triggers, trying to walk as much as possible. I've learned a lot from Dr. Stuart McGill and I respect him a great deal. I think keeping an open mind is important. Trying different things out, figuring out what works for you. Everyone is different. Just like you've said, MRIs may show all kinds of things but there may not necessarily be any symptoms. So, one stretch or exercise may work in theory but then, on an individual level, it may trigger pain or discomfort. For instance, in my case, doing any sort of a plank aggravates my back pain.

I have L1-L5 herniated discs with radiculopathy. I'm able to walk for 20 minutes before I begin to feel sciatica in my glute muscle. All it takes for me is taking one minute sitting break on a park bench (literally 60 seconds), and I'm able to continue on my way. Doing those standing press ups against a park bench also seems to do the trick. But just sitting down works.

If you're a young dude full of testosterone, it's gonna be difficult to dissuade you from lifting heavy. Dr. McGill has said that you won't see guys who have been lifting heavy in their later years competing. If you're a professional powerlifter, you don't have a choice. Otherwise, I'd say, try not to use a belt, this will prevent you from going too heavy. A lot of those gym bros will tell you to push yourself but most of them have had some sort of an injury or even surgery. For most ppl, it's just not worth it. Just lift in 10-12 rep range and be mindful of your leverages/biomechanics. Some ppl can get away with smoking for years, while others get cancer. I think something similar applies to lifting heavy. To some, a heavy squat from a biomechanical perspective is more like a leg press for someone with long limbs/torso.

I've yo-yo dieted a bunch of times and I can say that after I had herniated my disc a few years back, putting on weight definitely makes things worse. First, the extra load on the discs. Second, your spine gets out of alignment when you have a belly. Whether you're walking, sitting or sleeping. I found that running on a treadmill made things worse than even running outdoors. These days, I go for walks outside. After 20 minutes, I feel sciatica in my left glute. Taking a 60 second sitting break relieves the symptoms and I can continue walking for another 20 minutes. I also use recumbent stationary bike. I still do weight training but no powerlifting movements and nothing too heavy.

    • @RemiSovran
      @RemiSovran 2 місяці тому

Yeah.. The extra weight adds a lot of extra stress to the lumbar spine.. and over time that can add and create a wear and tear effect on the body.

My back "went out" a few times in my mid-twenties simply after bending over to pick up a pen that fell on the floor. I went to see a chiropractor who took an Xray and told me I had scoliosis. No other symptoms or issues for years. Then, in my 40s, I took up weight training. I pushed myself in the gym and got into powerlifting. At this new gym, that turned out had an uneven floor, I did a deadlift and I felt that squishy sound coming from my disc on my left. Following that, I had that flappy left foot, tingling in my left leg and I couldn't even do body weight walking lunges. I'd fall to my left. I had the nerve conduction study (NCS) done and it showed there was no nerve damage. It took me about 6 months to recover. I never went back to doing heavy powerlifting movements. This was about 2 years ago. Last summer, I gained some weight and to compensate for the calories, I got into running. And my lower back pain and sciatica came back. I had an MRI done and it showed L1-L5 herniation with radiculopathy. Some days it was hard to get out of bed. Tylenol helped. I've been taking Glucosamine as well. Doing those cat-cow and half-cobra stretches. I've lost some weight and got back into walking outdoors on a flat surface. I find that after 20 minutes, my sciatica (i wouldn't call it pain, just discomfort), kicks in. I only feel it in my glutes. Taking a 60 second sitting break helps and I'm back walking. I really hope that with time, I can go back to not feeling any discomfort at all. At work, I've purchased a sitting cushion, I find that having a softer seat helps. Also, taking sitting breaks help. Getting up at least once an hour and going for a short walk helps.

Its been 3 weeks now, i have got a cast on my left hand and I feel so weak and depressed. I just cant get over with thoughts like I wouldnt be able to lift again and workout just like the way i used to earlier. How do i handle this stress while i''m recovering?? I likely have facet syndrome or something very similar and I’m 19 I was wondering if its possible or this is a permanent disability that never fully heals. I’m working to strengthen my core a lot and slowly return to my life again so I can sit in a chair normally and return to going to college in the fall. Thanks for ur response man

Would love to see your MRI now 10 years later, and I bet it would show a flattened disc, but it is a scar that is not causing pain anymore. I know scientists say discs can take 10 years to stiffen once they lose their stiffness- the facets take the brunt and show degenerative changes. And the facet pain goes away after many years- it has taken 4 years for me. In my case, an endplate fracture. All I know is a young undamaged disc has so much pressure inside the nucleus, that nerves and blood vessels can not invaginate into the annulus.

Hey man I’m dealing with pain in my facet joints in the lumbar. I slammed my joints from a squat injury and I think I have shndorme. My scans on mri showed nothing unusual because I used to think it was in any thoracic spine. Turns out it was actually my lumbar so I’m pretty sure I have it. I’m only 19 years old and I don’t know how to properly come back. I started jogging every 2 days and up to every other day but it was still hurting. I fixed my form and have built it up to daily speed 5.5 for just 10 minutes. I had to drop out of college cuz I couldn’t sit in my classes. Any advice how to get my life back anything could help please respond.

      - Hemendraamam Sorry to heart about all of that man. I can only imagine what you're going through. The key thing is when it comes to mechanical low back pain, it's important to avoid what triggers your pain or at least minimize it as much as you can... the more you can do that, the quicker you should be able to allow the damaged tissues to heal.. and eventually you're life should progressively get it easier.. but understand your pain triggers, avoid them and make adjustments to training routine that are spine friendly. If you need more help, I'd suggest visiting a McGill Method Practitioner.

@@RemiSovran somebody who reached out to me on tik tok said the way he cured his facet syndrome was by walking to jogging to running a couple miles each day and then he slowly returned to lifting. I heard running is supposed to help because it helps move those joints and reduce pain? But yeah thanks for the tips man I’ll definitely look into that. I’m trying to get back into running and moving the joints as much as I can without going overboard and do a slow progression. And hopefully return to lifting weights and everything.
